Leicester Award – How I came in to it
Education makes us
known to the world and enables us to reach the first step our career ladder but
in reality the challenge lies in climbing the career ladder. I firmly believe
that that transferable skill beyond academics is essential to stand out. Glimpses
of flyers the flashing of Leicester award adverts all around the campus and in
careers room captured my attention and made me more curious
The puzzle was
unwilled, when I met some career advisors and Leicester Award team. I always
had passion for extracurricular activities, all though it is done by passion at
the end of the when it just goes unnoticed some the times the interest level
falls down to continue it future. This question was in the back of mind…..Well
I got clear answer to this when I understood the structure of Leicester award
plan where we choose one out of many Leicester award experiences, and once we are
short listed for a particular experience we get support and training to go
ahead, which not only makes our extracurricular activity effective in our CV but
also comes in our degree transcript.
With many choices
to take – I was in sixes and sevens to find the best fit. Sustainability was
close to my heart yet I thought I can do even without Leicester Award and it
worked out – I was nominated for Leicester student Award for creating Green
Impact by Environmental Volunteering. Tomorrow’s Manager’s found to be related
to my course, I was advised as I am doing MBA, and the regular course itself
would cover it. I wanted to make the most of me and Chose WISE to
have a Practical feel of Social Enterprising.
The journey toward
social enterprising started from there..We had a two workshop to start with
followed by practical experience in a social Enterprise in Practical grounds.
